A NotiTrac guide for Fitbit Air and iPhone
Does the Fitbit Air have a screen or show the time?
No. The Fitbit Air has no screen, no clock, no buttons and no notifications. It is a band you wear and forget, and everything it measures appears in the Google Health app on your phone.
Why Google made it that way
Google launched the Air in May 2026 as a screenless tracker and sold the missing screen as the point: nothing to glance at, nothing to charge every night, nothing to distract you. The only thing it does on the wrist is vibrate, for its alarm and when the battery is low.
What it does
- Tracks steps, distance, energy, heart rate, sleep stages and vitals.
- Syncs them to Google Health, which can share them with Apple Health on iPhone.
- Vibrates for an alarm you set in Google Health, with Smart Wake.
- Vibrates and shows a small red light when it needs charging.
What it doesn't
- Show the time. You still look at your phone.
- Show or vibrate for notifications. That is by design, on iPhone and Android alike.
- Take calls, play music, pay, or find itself.
The one thing you can add
On an iPhone, NotiTrac gives the Air a buzz for calls and for the apps you choose, so the wrist tells you something arrived and the phone tells you what. The notifications guide explains what that is and isn't.
