A NotiTrac guide for Fitbit Air and iPhone
Can my Fitbit Air buzz when someone calls me?
Yes, with an iPhone and NotiTrac. While the phone rings, your Air keeps buzzing, for up to twenty seconds, and stops the moment you pick up. This part of NotiTrac is free.
How it works
iPhone tells apps when a call is ringing, without saying who is calling. NotiTrac uses that to start a repeating buzz on your Air and to stop it when the call is answered or stops ringing. It never sees the caller's name or number.
Because a ringing call is detected by the phone rather than by a notification, this doesn't depend on the Shortcuts notification triggers that other alerts need. It does need the short call setup inside the app, which you do once.
Set it up
- In NotiTrac, pick your Air and try a test buzz.
- Open Alerts and follow the call setup. It takes a minute.
- Ask someone to call you, with your phone locked and in your pocket. Your wrist should start buzzing within a couple of seconds and stop when you answer.
What it covers
- Regular phone calls.
- Calls through messaging apps that use the iPhone's calling system, such as WhatsApp and FaceTime. Test the app you actually use; call recognition varies by app and iOS version.
A missed-call notification is not the same as a ringing call. If you only get a buzz after the call has ended, the call setup isn't finished; the app's guide shows the step.
Why this is free
A call is the one alert nearly everyone wants on their wrist, and it was the reason NotiTrac exists. Notifications from other apps, the wake alarm and Find my Air are part of NotiTrac Pro, a single purchase with no subscription.
