A NotiTrac guide for Fitbit Air and iPhone
Can my Fitbit Air vibrate for Instagram messages?
Yes, on an iPhone. NotiTrac makes your Air vibrate when Instagram sends a notification. Instagram sends a lot of them, so set it up to vibrate for messages and calls, not for every like.
Messages, not likes
NotiTrac vibrates for every notification Instagram sends, so the filtering happens inside Instagram. Open your profile, tap the menu, then Notifications. Turn off likes, comments and other activity you don't need on your wrist, and keep Messages on. Whatever Instagram stops sending, your Air stops feeling.
Instagram calls are free
Instagram audio and video calls ring through the iPhone's call screen and arrive through the Phone app, so NotiTrac's free Phone automation covers them. We tested this one ourselves: the Air vibrates while an Instagram call rings.
Set up the buzz for messages
Notifications from Instagram are part of NotiTrac Pro, a monthly subscription. You add one Shortcuts automation for Instagram:
- Open Shortcuts, tap + and choose Automation.
- Scroll to Notification and choose When I receive a notification from App.
- Tap App and pick Instagram.
- Search the actions for Buzz, add NotiTrac's action, then go back to save.
- Lock your phone and wait for the next Instagram notification, or set one up to test. Your Air should vibrate within a few seconds.
The Shortcuts guide has the same steps in more detail, and NotiTrac walks you through them in the app.
Keep it calm
- Quiet repeated alerts keeps a burst from one app to two buzzes.
- Space out buzzes allows at most one app buzz per one, two or five minutes.
- Quiet hours keeps app alerts silent overnight.
All three are under Alerts in NotiTrac. Calls always come through.
What you need
- An iPhone on iOS 27 or later. That is the version where Shortcuts can react to any app's notifications.
- Your Fitbit Air set up in the Google Health app.
- Instagram notifications allowed in iPhone Settings → Notifications → Instagram.
- NotiTrac, with your Air picked and a test buzz that works.
