A NotiTrac guide for Fitbit Air and iPhone
Can my Fitbit Air vibrate for reminders and calendar events?
Yes, on an iPhone. On its own the Air vibrates for alarms only. With NotiTrac, a Calendar alert or a Reminders notification can tap your wrist instead of lighting up a phone in your bag.
Fixed times: the Air's own alarms
For the same time every day, such as waking up, the Air's built-in alarm is enough. Set up to eight alarms in Google Health and the Air vibrates by itself, even with your phone in another room.
Meetings and to-dos: NotiTrac
Calendar alerts and Reminders are ordinary iPhone notifications, so NotiTrac can turn them into a vibration. This is part of NotiTrac Pro, a monthly subscription. Make one automation for Calendar and one for Reminders:
- Open Shortcuts, tap + and choose Automation.
- Scroll to Notification and choose When I receive a notification from App.
- Tap App and pick Calendar.
- Search the actions for Buzz, add NotiTrac's action, then go back to save.
- Lock your phone and wait for the next Calendar notification, or set one up to test. Your Air should vibrate within a few seconds.
The Shortcuts guide has the same steps in more detail, and NotiTrac walks you through them in the app.
Then make the same automation for Reminders. Set the alert time in the event or the reminder itself, for example ten minutes before a meeting. The Air vibrates when that alert arrives.
Ideas that work well
- A ten-minute warning before meetings, from Calendar.
- A reminder to leave, from a Reminders item with a time.
- A nudge from a to-do or habit app you already use, if it sends notifications.
Good to know
Quiet hours keep app alerts silent, reminders included, so check the window if an evening reminder doesn't arrive. A buzz usually lands within a few seconds, but don't rely on it for anything where a missed alert could cause harm.
