A NotiTrac guide for Fitbit Air and iPhone
Can my Fitbit Air vibrate for WhatsApp messages?
Yes, on an iPhone. The Air has no screen, so you won't read the message on your wrist, but NotiTrac can make it vibrate the moment WhatsApp sends a notification.
WhatsApp calls are free
WhatsApp calls ring through the iPhone's own call screen, so they arrive through the Phone app. The one Phone automation NotiTrac walks you through covers them: your Air vibrates while the call rings, for up to twenty seconds, and stops when you answer. See call alerts for the details.
WhatsApp messages: one automation
Messages from WhatsApp are part of NotiTrac Pro, a monthly subscription. You add one Shortcuts automation for WhatsApp:
- Open Shortcuts, tap + and choose Automation.
- Scroll to Notification and choose When I receive a notification from App.
- Tap App and pick WhatsApp.
- Search the actions for Buzz, add NotiTrac's action, then go back to save.
- Lock your phone and wait for the next WhatsApp notification, or set one up to test. Your Air should vibrate within a few seconds.
The Shortcuts guide has the same steps in more detail, and NotiTrac walks you through them in the app.
Keep busy groups off your wrist
NotiTrac vibrates for the notifications WhatsApp actually sends. Mute a chat or a group in WhatsApp and it stays off your wrist too. Under Settings → Notifications in WhatsApp you can switch group notifications off altogether and keep your personal chats.
- Quiet repeated alerts keeps a burst from one app to two buzzes.
- Space out buzzes allows at most one app buzz per one, two or five minutes.
- Quiet hours keeps app alerts silent overnight.
All three are under Alerts in NotiTrac. Calls always come through.
What it can't do
The Air only vibrates. It can't show who wrote or what they said, and you can't reply from it. Most buzzes land within a few seconds of the notification; now and then one takes a little longer.
What you need
- An iPhone on iOS 27 or later. That is the version where Shortcuts can react to any app's notifications.
- Your Fitbit Air set up in the Google Health app.
- WhatsApp notifications allowed in iPhone Settings → Notifications → WhatsApp.
- NotiTrac, with your Air picked and a test buzz that works.
